A meeting with Elvis & Priscilla
1174 Hillcrest Drive, Los Angeles, Ca.
by Hilda Johnson
A few days later, before we were to leave the area, we made one more stop at Elvis´ gates. On this day there were around 12 or 13 people just standing around, talking, showing their scrapbooks etc. My photographs weren´t developed yet and I wished with all my might that they had been, because I too wanted to share something with the other fans. But I had my memories to share and later on, I´d have the photographs to share with them.
All of a sudden, there was a flurry of movement going on up at the house. It looked as though someone was packing for a trip. As time passed by, it was obvious that Elvis was preparing to go somewhere. I couldn´t believe it. I was actually going to get a chance to see that beautiful man once again.
As the car stopped at the gates, you could hear the excitement buzzing in the air from all of the fans. We half expected that because there were so many people outside, when the gates opened he would just wave to us and pass on through. We were wrong. He again stopped, rolled down the window and began signing autographs. I shot a few more pictures and even got the "Flaming Star" L.P. that Priscilla had signed, autographed by Elvis. Then, as quickly as he had stopped, he drove off. I was never to see him again on such intimate terms. In concert at Las Vegas 1969, and on tour would be as close as I would ever get to him again. But! "Memories! Memories pressed between the pages of my mind. I have them." Today, tomorrow and forever.
