I couldn't put my finger on what it was about these photos or about this show - but it's because it's fully lit up.
Normally the lights would come down at the start and spotlights would be put on Elvis.
Only other instances of this is when a show is filmed.
Maybe they were going for that "Aloha" look to the show?
