Spending money with a jeweller... these are the fisrt photos Alfred Wertheimer took of Elvis after being introduced to him in the very same room moments earlier.

Elvis reads fan mail, tearing up each one after he has read it to save accidentaly reading it again. Then after a tiring rehearsal just drfits off to sleep on top of the ones left. It's a short nap before he's got to get upagain and get ready for the broadcast this evening.

Getting ready in his suite at the Warwick Hotel, New York City, for tonights Dorsey Brothers Stage Show on TV.
Elvis went to the Nola Studio at 12.30 p.m. for a rehearsal, came back and had a nap above and leaves at 4pm for the TV Studios.

There to capture some of the most candid photos was Alfred Wertheimer.

The performance photos below maybe from the rehearsal or a combination of therehearsal and the show itself.
Elvis is wearing a white tie in some shots but not in others.

The photo of him signing at the stage door, with the out-of-focus tops of the fans' heads in the foreground, was the first one I ever saw of him.

It was in some national UK newspaper, probably the Daily Express

Strange choice of picture - as opposed to ones of him performing - for them to use.
