Elvis getting a haircut at Jim’s Barber Shop on Main Street in Memphis, TN was taken by journalist Lloyd Shearer in the last week of July 1956, on assignment for "Parade" magazine.

Maybe not, but that was the day Elvis visited Jims Barber shop, wasn't it? I might have got my dates mixed up.

I'll have to try and work it backwards, I think Graceland had the ticket on display which had the date on it.

Here are three from outside the barbers:

: 'The Eddy Duchin Story' was released on
21st June, 1956 in the US

Can't find an exact date.

23rd July to 27th inclusive.

27th there's the photo of Elvis performing one of the two songs he sang with the Blackwood Brothers.
His hair looks cut.
I doubt the streeet photos are from this day as Lloyd Shearer woukd most likely have been invited along and yet we only have the one known photo from this evening.

At the other end of the calendar, the 21st , Saturday, he was buying the Lincoln, no photos, next day was a Sunday.

So that leaves 23rd to realistically the 26th, Monday to Thursday. This car would be gone by August 4th, so 14 days ownership in total, in the year most documented, and we dont know what date these photos are.

Judging by how he's dressed & the background, I suspect that this one is also from the same day as the 'outside Jim the barbers' ones.

It is and there's a similar one a few moments earlier / later.
The set that were taken at the hotel that same day are a little odd. Why was Elvis staying at a Memphis hotel?
Could this help date the photos?
Elvis had gotten fed up and left Memphis that week earlier than originally planned and headed back down to Biloxi. Could he have been fed up with staying at home with no peace that he stayed at the hotel for a night then drove down to Biloxi ? Even had his hair cut ready for the gigs in Florida?
I'm not claiming any theory, just posing the questions.
