Elvis picked up his girlfriend, Anita Wood, 19, at Memphis Airport on September 13, 1957 and he joyfully presented her to the media. Elvis and Anita met in July of that year. Anita was a TV personality and DJ herself in Memphis, they obviously loved each other. She was his stable girlfriend although Tom Parker wanted Elvis to be officially single. Anita waited for Elvis while he was away during his military service in Germany from September 1958 to March 1960, they wrote and called each other during those two years. Their relationship lasted for two years after he returned home, but they eventually separated in the summer of 1962, when Anita found out Priscilla Beaulieu had visited Elvis in Los Angeles. But for long enough, many thought Anita was going to become Elvis's wife. She eventually married football player Johnny Brewer in 1964, and had three children with him.

Anita Marie Wood Brewer (born c. 1937) (also known as Little Bitty & Little) was a TV performer, recording artist & girlfriend of Elvis Presley.
She later married NFL football player Johnny Brewer.
Presley & Wood met in 1957 & in the same year Presley referred to Wood as his "No. 1 Girl".
The two dated seriously for several years from 1957 to 1962.
Wood signed a contract to work as an actress for Paramount Pictures, but later gave it up for Presley.
In 1976, Johnny Brewer sued the Memphis Publishing Company for libel when it reported that
Anita Brewer was divorced from Brewer & reunited with Presley in Las Vegas.
Anita Wood appeared on the Larry King show in 2005 to talk about her romance with Elvis Presley.
Anita recorded for ABC-Paramount (1958); Sun (1961); & Santo (1963).
She also worked on The Andy Williams Show (summer 1958) & is the uncredited vocalist with Williams on "Hawaiian Wedding Song",
a Top 15 hit in early 1959.
